REST and RECOVER

It has been almost a month since I have posted!  We have been very busy.  We enjoyed a wonderful conference and hosted wonderful guests.  I also recently injured my knee with a small cartilage tear.  I have a new diagnosis…arthritis with fluid on my knee.  I am in the midst of aggressive physical therapy with a wonderful therapist.  He has asked me to limit my stress level.  He also has given me an aggressive program to heal and recover.  I think I probably should have spelled out what stress means to me! :)   I am daily (6 days a week), going to our local gymn to swim in their wave pool.  I am also assigned to daily ride a recumbant bike.  This is added to other excersizes I have to do at home twice a day.  I feel like I have a full time job!  (He told me it actually is part time. )   I am however recovering.  I see another physician on friday and will get another plan added.  SO…my goal for right now is just to REST and RECOVER while DOING all of the above.

I am very thankful for the help I am getting.  I am looking forward to recovering.  I will let you know in another month how I am doing.

Keep enjoying, praising and calling on our dear LORD!   Much grace to you all.  LUBM    Debbie

Rearranging for function

This past weekend, my husband said I could go on vacation on Saturday as he was gone to a conference.  I had such fun on my “vacation”!   I rearranged my scrap room!

My sewing machine was available but still not out and ready so I rarely used it in my scrapbooking.  My cuttlebug also was available but not out and ready.  Rarely did I use it! (I love to make my titles using my cuttlebug dies).  I decided to rearrange for function.  I need everything handy and ready to go so I will use it regularly.

I will show you some before and after photos of my “trip”. ;)  These first four will show you my before photos.  On the East wall of my scraproom was a trundle hide-a-bed used for rare visitors to bunk out. (The painting on the wall is one my grandmother painted!  She did awesome oil paintings.)

This gives a view of the room as you enter.  The window faces south.  My project life table is in front of that window.

The next is my desk.  I have “filled” it recently with a bin holding many of my scrapbook circle kit club embellishments as well as a bowl of my washi tapes.  I just recently quit the kit club.  I want to use up all of my stash this next year!  I am making my own kits.  Then I can rejoin a kit club and just use current products and not hoard so much.  I am a bit excited about this decision. :)  I do love clean and simple, but more than that I love creative functional organizing SO….everything I need to form a page is within reach. Thus…a bit of a “mess”,  but…..funtionally so. :)

The final before photo is of my bookshelf storing a lot of my things.  I gave away 9 jars of flowers as I have almost never used them. I kept 4 jars of prema flowers that I do use.  My buttons sorted by color I use all the time so I kept them. This is where my cuttlebug and my dies were stored.

Now the work begins… I moved the bed to the south wall.  After measuring I knew it would fit.  I still had enough access to the storage cupboard where my paper and a few other supplies are stored.  I moved the project life cupboard to the east wall where the bed was.  I removed the project life supplies from the drawers and the top of the cupboard.  I put my sewing machine out on the cupboard.  I also put my cuttlebug out.  The left drawer holds cuttlebug supplies and a few dies, the right drawer holds sewing supplies.  All “plugged in” and ready to go. :)

The green bin on top of the old typewriter table holds the rest of my cuttlebug dies.  Just unzip it and there is easy access to everything I need.  So functionally organized!  The balance of the bed by the window is a bit skewed to this discerning eye, but the room feels much more spacious.  I think I am going to love the way the room will work.  Time will tell.

Next I spent a lot of time working on the desk and the bookshelves.  Sorting and rearranging.  Often when working on my project life, I would do a lot of it on my desk anyway.  I now have everything I need in one place.  I even worked out space in my “file cabinet” drawers to hold my stamps.  Everything I need is within reach and easily accessed.   Here are the last photos of “AFTER” the rearranging.

The aqua blue album..(there are two) are this years project life albums.  The first is almost full.  In June I will begin the second.  The white bin holds this weeks PL items.  When I work on it, I grab the album and items and begin the layout on my desk.  All the cards and embellishments, my stamps and inks are ready to go on my desk.

Finally, I want to show you a layout I made to complete my vacation day!   In addition to this project, I regularly checked in with Shimelles blog to be involved with her scrap weekend.  I didn’t do any of the challenges, but loved all her content and hope to participate this week with some of the challenges. I also loved her glitter girl post on making kits with older paper.  I didn’t use any new items, but did sort my paper earlier this week.

Last Monday, some friends were in town and I loved being with these children.  They were so full of energy! While looking trough my paper, I found this lacy edged paper with the frog.  I knew it would tell the story of playing in the water and had to make  this page.  Here is the layout that I did after this “vacation trip”.  A wonderful way to end the day.

I hope you all have a vacation of your own.  Something you love to do.  Something that will refresh your heart.  Much grace to each of you today.  Be refreshed to love the Lord even more.  LUBM.        Debbie!

Books: a great read!

Every chapter of  our lives is different.  I hardly ever read ahead when reading a book.  Some times chapters can be kind of painful.  Definitely busy…go figure!  In this book of our lives, I am so glad to know its final ending.  My heart today is grieving some losses, yet it is still so full of PRAISE.  I do know the end of the story of our lives.   It is an AWESOME ending….or actually a real beginning.  This story is a great read!  I am so thankful to my dear Lord, for his constant love and care.  I am also so thankful that I am on His winning team!  Jesus is Lord, He is my personal Savior,  He is my head, and He is my King.  Praise Him.  He is victor!  He is my life.  PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Here is a layout that I made of Jim and James.  I love the story, and may redo the layout as there is no trapped white space, but there is really no white space at all!   It’s too busy for me.

I love my Jim’s….  We are all book lovers, but as the story goes, I do occasionally get a bit jealous of books! :)

I am so sorry it is a fuzzy photo!  Jim is in California and I couldn’t download my pictures due to a computer glitch.  I emailed this and it isn’t clear.  I hope you get a little view of my story.  When you visit you can see it clearly. Love you all bunches!  Much grace be with each of you today!      Mom….Debbie…..

Cold!

Ok folks,

I was walking to Starbucks this morning and it was 28 degrees out. This for me, is becoming difficult. I am often cold. There is a blanket with in reach all over my house, in my car, and even at my church meeting hall. I dressed this morning to go for a walk as it was not raining, but I AM JUST TOO COLD! Each Monday this month, I think this is the last week of cold. Well, maybe this week will be the last of the cold?! I usually turn off my furnace in March. My furnace is still on and running! Well, I guess we just have to wait for the cold to end.

I still think spring is in the air. It is just such COLD spring air! :-)

Enough of my complaining!

I am daily doing a little clutter control. I also have resisted shopping to buy more! (I love cute little hand me downs that I find at thrift stores.) I am going to put away my rusts and browns and bring out my spring greens. (I really want to get out my spring dresses! )

Today I am going to take a load to my local charity.  I also am getting out my spring things.

I hope each of you enjoy some spring greens this week. May your air be warm, and your buds blossom! Also, maybe a dear friend of mine might begin a “sweet” labor of love….!  This week, a birth would be awesome!  Go A– Go!

Enjoy today!  Jesus is Lord!  Praise Him!                                   Lubm.          Debbie

Project Life and scrapbook layouts;

I still love project life.  It seems to make me more aware of each day and little happenings!  I do forget to take pictures. With my new iPhone, I do have access to a camera most of the time.  I need to take it with me when I go for walks so I can take photos of spring time happenings.  I did see a little bit of snow falling, but spring IS on the way.  I plan to document spring more with photos this year!

I will be showing you most of February, and what I have done of March so far.  I will then follow with two layouts that I did this past weekend.  I added some sewing to them after I took the pictures, but even without that final touch, you can see what fun I had.

This was in february for the week I was visiting my daddy.  I also got to be with my sister , nephew and aunt.  Not a great photo of daddy, but he was not well and in the hospital ER. We love you daddy!

This was the weekend staying with Jenn and Matt. I LOVE bo bim bob!  My first and only time having it.  Jenn helped me drive home on that snowy weekend from Seattle.  I do always love getting home!

These next two photos show how I do inserts in my project life album. Here, I sure loved seeing my dear husband!  I also took a photo of my new spring purses.  Dayna bought the little one, I bought the matching big one at TJ maxx.  I think that is the worst thing about my visits, I do go shopping a lot more than usual!  The insert here is a copy of my blog post.  Sometimes that is my “journaling”, and makes my project life album complete.  On the back side, you will see a “little layout” I did of some photos of my friends at our “love feast”.  I also put in my Starbuck’s friends layout.  I made it that week, although the photo was taken back in December.

These two pictures up above are of the first week in March.  PLUS the last day of  February.  I wanted to show you the pocket I filled with confetti!  I felt it was a good day to celebrate, as it is leap year!  Lisa Truesdell has done confetti layouts quite a bit in her project life book.  Also in a garden girl layout on Two Peas in a Bucket.  Ali Edwards also did a PL layout early in the year with confetti.  It was fun. Stitching closed the pocket.  The larger circle I punched out of my Starbuck’s breakfast sandwich package….a cute note from my friend!    I will follow with last weeks PL layout, and the two scrapbook layouts that I did this past weekend.

Both of these layouts have been on my heart.  I am so glad to get them done.  My daughters have  become good friends as they have grown up.  That makes my heart so happy!!  I found these two of Jenny holding, loving and caring for her baby sister Joy.  I wanted to put these with more current photos showing again this love.

This busy, a bit sloppy layout of my daddy, I wouldn’t normally like…..but I LOVE IT!  It tells the story of my dear daddy.  The fun-loving, kind, casual guy.  HIS typewriter a big part of him.  He loved to write.  He drafted his sermons. It was often sitting out on the dining room table next to his bible.

Thank you for visiting me here.  Have a wonderful week.  Much blessing to you all!   LUBM        Debbie

The sun is shining!!!

Today the sun is shining!!!  The air is cold, but Renae saw robins last weekend!  I think we all are looking forward to spring.  March is another favorite month of mine as seasons begin to change.  I start to look for buds on trees.  I have already spotted some early tulip bulbs begin to peak out of the ground at our meeting hall.  There is such a beauty to the ressurection of life that we see in the spring.  The reality of this is even better!

Here is a picture of my view of the sunshine from my kitchen window.  LOVELY!

Last weekend, I got to spend some time with 2 of my young scrap buddies :) .  I didn’t accomplish much, but always am refreshed being with them.  I cannot beleave I didn’t take any pictures. (NEXT TIME…you guys have to be my memory and help me!)  Here is a picture of a layout I completed.  Jill…I am happy with it.

My final photo is so cute.  It is a photo of a dear friend of mine.  HER SHOES.  Sometimes we get a little distracted when we are in a hurry to get some where.  This can be more of a challenge when we pass the 40 or 50 age mark.  I still chuckle when I think of this, It is so fun to be happy and giggle when we find ourselves in this kind of pickle.  This dear friend was rushing to get to the meeting on time.  After our prayer time, she looked down and saw her feet.  I was so glad she came and showed me!!!

Well dear friends…stay happy!  A happy heart is open to the Lord.  Much grace be with you!  May you “shod your feet with the firm foundation of the gospel of peace.”  Eph. 6:15.   Praise Jesus!     LUBM      Debbie

I am home.

I am home!  I had a sweet time with my father. I also had a wonderful time with Jenn and Matt.

There is some conflict in the care of my daddy. Things I am not able to share.  I feel there was some great progress on this trip.  I also LOVED the atmosphere and loving people caring for my daddy. The place is for Alzheimer’s patients, and daddy is in the best of hands.  I know the Lord is doing all things well. Praise Him!!

When I was with Jenn, I got to sort, toss, and organize a bit.  My favorite job! I also got to do a bit of scrapbooking.  I also got to have a Korean dish, that I have to say is now my favorite meal ever!  I am hoping to find a place to get it here. I can’t ever remember what it is called, but it is something like “Bo beam bob”. It is absolutely yummy!

Here is the layout I did at Jenny’s.  It is from our trip to Europe.  We had such fun.  I love this photo. It is full of memories.  Consider 9 ladies (soon to be 11 as 2 more ladies joined us). We were visiting a lovely garden and castle in Holland. I, a control freak, a frequent school time volunteer for field trips, was very focused on making sure none of us got lost.  We all were full of ideas to stay together.  We at first tried to have partners. Breaking up in threesomes. Problem was all of us middle aged brains couldn’t remember who was on our team.  We then just kept counting heads and couldn’t think of who was missing. It became a very ” chuckling ” time.  We were in an environment of staid, quiet, thoughtful people, acting like giggling school girls.  Oh well, we are from America.  We just couldn’t hide that fact.  What a lovely time!

Here is a layout when one of us was lost!

Have a great weekend.  We will be having a love feast on friday.  Two meetings on Saturday and Sunday.  A weekend full of real love feasting!!!  Praise the Lord for ALL He is!  Praise Him for all He is doing, has done and will accomplish.  We are so very blessed!     LUBM.      Debbie

“Going to Work!”

I’ve enjoyed reading all my favorite blogs this week. I am packing and planning a trip to see my daddy at his new home. I get to stay the weekends with Jenn as she is also going to drive with me to the Seattle area. During the week I get to be with my sister Dayna and her family, as well as my dear tanta Mary. It will be a dear time with them all. Vacations are something most people look forward to. My life is kind of a vacation. Trips or vacations, are more for me like “going to work”. A bit of a stress. :) Sooooo when I return from my “going to work…vacation”, I will post again letting you all know what a great time I had.

You are in my prayers. I will continue to enjoy your lives through your blogs on my IPad, (and my new Iphone that Jim bought me!). Have a wonderful week. Continue to enjoy our dear Lord Jesus….Praise Him!

ONE YEAR!

One year!

Last year,In the month of February, I started my BLOG.  My reasons for beginning were mainly due to the urgings from my daughter Joy.  Now, my continuing are really for me.  I love to read my young friends and adult children’s Blogs to stay in touch with their lives. I also love to write a little about my life. I love that I have a few commenting readers as well. I am amazed that I enjoy doing it and am still discovering a few things about myself even after knowing myself for so many years!  Kind of fun.

This weekend my son and his wife are visiting.  I had him help me change a few things.  He quickly did basic geeky things to help my lay out be more eye pleasing as well as making it easier for me to use.  James is the one who helped me set it up last year.  I am amazed how quickly he changed and added things to make it the way I wanted it. I certainly have time to invest and hopefully can make these kinds of changes on my own next time. Hopefully this “old dog” can learn a few tricks.  (That is a complement as I am totally a dog lover!).

There visit is short, but its so fun to be with them.  Here are a few pictures of our time together.

“PLANKING HAS BEEN replaced by TEBOWING”.   James had to demonstrate planking.  Hmmm, It is a wonder what kids learn today!

planking!

Jim and James working on Riddles even before they take take their coats off. These guys like books!

My "baby" and his bride!

Family Fun!

ME!

Much grace to you all!  Let’s have another great year.

Remember, today is another great day to Praise the Lord.

HE IS AWESOME.

Scrapbooking boot camp!

My friend Amy and I attended scrapbooking boot camp on Saturday.  It is a 12 hour scrap crop held by my local Kroc Center.  We had a wonderful time playing with paper.  I was so glad I was able to multitask much better than the last time I sat near someone.  We both had fun and got alot done.  JoAnne, our host, provided 2 meals and snacks. We loved getting to play all day with no responsibilities.  So fun!  We also watched a make and take paper bag album class.  A new style album which will be fun to make.

Here are 4 layouts I worked on.  The lay out “so stinken cute” is my favorite and took the most time.  The story is of my nephew.  I have visited him twice this past few months, and loved being with him. The order of my photos gets mixed up as I down load.  I need my geeky kids to help me!  I also am sorry for the angle of my shots. At least you can see what fun I had!

I am also going to show you another 3 layouts I did this week.  The one of Amy and I was done at 2:30 am!  I woke up after 4 hours of sleep and couldn’t fall asleep again.  Instead of reading I did this quirky layout.  I guess such a cutsie layout can happen in those curcumstances!

I

Well, I want to close.  I wish I could figure out how to place the photos in the order in which I downloaded them….Oh well, you don’t need to know which I made where.  I know I am more intelligent than a computer!!! I just wish I could figure it all out!  IN THE MEAN TIME….. KEEP ENJOYING THE LORD!!!!  TODAY IS A WONDERFUL DAY TO PRAISE THE LORD!!!!   Much grace to each of you,  LUBM…..Debbie. (also gmg and gdg! :) )
