I lost again!

This week I want to update on a few things. 1) My most recent purchase. 2) weight loss.

When Jim went to Germany, he bought a book for me of wonderful German castles. He said it would help me decorate our new home, our condo. I was a bit stunned as I knew we had no money to do much of anything as we now had two mortgages. I sort of wondered about his sanity :).
In our time here…Almost one year, I have wanted a few things to make our home here functionally beautiful. I have a monthly budget and usually spend it on household needs and gas. I have found ways to save, really questioning each purchase. (also putting a freeze on craft purchases!) I have been able to save a bit each month and been able to purchase a few things that I really wanted. This month, a dear friend of mine, Becky, had a piece of furniture she was selling. She took me to see it. I loved the piece but was not sure it would suit my need. After shifting a few things around, I decided to purchase it. When I love a piece of furniture, I will always find a place for it! I have wanted a buffet for the condo as I wanted to bring some more dishes here. I don’t cook much anymore, but love to have great serving dishes when I do, or when I have company. Tom and Becky helped Jim bring the “buffet” here. (It is a lovely bookshelf of sorts, now filled with my petalware and other treasures!)  I love it.  I will love to get all of you to see it in person, and let me know if it “fits” where it is.  Maybe some day I will be willing to get rid of my favorite things….usually dishes!  A silly love as I truly don’t enjoy cooking!!!

Now, on to the title of this post.  “I lost again!”  I have not been feeling well since early May.  I had a terrible bout of the flu…or food poisoning.  I have not had an appetite and have not been able to eat the things that “south beech” eating requires.  I actually craved tacos!  I rarely eat them, but as I was recovering, chicken noodle soup and tacos were about the only things I could eat.  Go figure!  I think it was the sodium.  I was shocked how salty (and good) the tacos tasted.  Since then, I have eaten carefully but many more carbs than I thought I should eat.  This morning after my time at the gym, I weighed myself.  I was down another 5 pounds!  I was so happy.  I knew I was maintaining, but was so happy I actually lost.  That was so motivating!  That means 22 pounds since I have been getting on a scale.  I am enjoying eating small amounts of things my body craves or loves.  Resisting sugar, having wheat only a few times a week.  I’m finding a way I can eat for the rest of my life.  Sweet success.

I will post about once a week.  I want to tell you next time about the gift your father gave me for my birthday!   Such a dear.     Have a great week.  LUBM…..Debbie!

Update!

I am without a post again. I have not been feeling well since I had the flu a month ago so am copping out on updating my blogging corner. I hope to be back early next week. I will keep up commenting on those blogs I follow. Have a great week and weekend, Debbie

MOM IN A BOX!

A few months ago my youngest…our Joy, said my blog was like haveing “Mom in a box”. Joy is in Germany going to school. I haven’t heard from her for about a month, and was a bit concerned. She called me yesterday and made my day! I got all my questions answered about her life and schooling and got updated as to her days. She is very busy but also very much enjoying the church life there. All is well. This mom is happy! I loved her comment about “Mom in a box”, and I just had to write using this title. I may develop it further, but have to consider it some more. Have a great day!

GIVE THEM FOOD!

GIVE THEM FOOD!

Matthew 24:45,46  Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom the master has set over his household to give them food at the proper time?  Blessed is that slave whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.

John 21:17. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me? Peter was grieved that He said to him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love you.  Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.

I was not that pleased with the look of my framed colorful paper.  When I heard again the quote:  give them food, I knew what that paper needed.  Those beautiful words make those frames complete.  Give them food. A perfect framable quote!

What a blessing to have the Lord be our food so that we can serve Him to so many hungry people.  What a precious Savior we have!

Give them food!

Knick Knack Lady

Knick Knack Lady

Several years ago my dear husband called me this!  Of course I didn’t understand it.  Now a bit wiser, I can’t deny this description! I just bought another knick knack!  This is after a lot of decluttering recently with a car load of stuff taken to good will. Go figure!

A few weeks ago I got to see a friends condo.  She has an apple orchard mid state.  She comes here regularly to get away from a very busy life style.  She has a lovely condo.  So pleasant and decorated beautifully. No clutter or knick knacks.  So peaceful!  Her furniture was top quality mostly from pottery barn.

I told her I now wanted to give away everything I owned that “decorated” my condo, all my knick knacks!  She came to see my home and noted that I love Mary Engelbright.  She had the wisdom to let me know, our home just expresses what we are. It is our home!  She reminded me Mary E., how a few years ago she tried to get rid of her knick knacks and just had to come back to her love of collecting.

Well, like I said, I bought another knick knack.  I don’t good will shop or intentionally collect like I did in the past, but….this was a necessary purchase.

Smile!  How could I resist….the colors, my inspiration!  With a bird and flowers and such lovely colors. Cute, small, I could not resist! 🙂

My friend told me this place was her get away.  Her home mid state was very cluttered.  Her kitchen wall was like a scrap book full of pictures. Many things everywhere.  What a dear.  I would like to see that home of hers as well.

I think my knick knacks are really my story.  Everything I display is something that has sentimental value with sweet memorys.  My knick knacks are like embellishments. My home truly is MY LIVING SCRAP BOOK…FULL OF STORY.

I am a knick knack lady!

Crafting Cards

Wednesday is the day I stay home to do “me” things. Eather things that need to be done, OR things I want to do for fun. The thing I like most, is I don’t go anywhere! My hair was washed this morning but I haven’t even combed it yet and Jim gets home in a few minutes! COOL!

This month we have many friends graduating from high school, and college. I also have alot of birthdays coming up. I need to “restock” my card supply. I enjoyed making a few and will share some photos with you. I didn’t emboss or paint, or do much stamping on these, but I think they are cute anyway.

Well, that was my labor for today. (Actually, before I made these, I sorted and cleaned out my desk!)  The only thing I forgot to do today was eat.  I think I am going to go make me a bowl of oatmeal…just gotta have it!

I will post again soon and tell you about my “Smash books”.  Have a great week.
